Domaine du Changeon Les Nomades Sauvignon Blanc, Bottle

Located in Bourgueil, Domaine du Changeon was founded by David Ledoux after a
twenty-year career in mechanical engineering. Formerly known as Domaine Bruno
Dufeu, the 12-hectare domaine takes its name from the River Changeon, the historic
waterway that once powered Bourgueil's mills. Today, 11 hectares are planted to
Cabernet Franc, complemented by smaller parcels of Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin
Blanc.

Les Nomades is produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grown on the clay-limestone
soils of the Les Neusaies vineyard. The wine is fermented dry, with no residual sugar,
and matured on its fine lees to develop texture while preserving the freshness of the
fruit. The name Les Nomades refers to species displaced by climate change, inspired
by the white-clawed crayfish native to the River Changeon, whose habitat is
threatened by invasive North American crayfish carrying a harmful parasite.
The nose combines aromas of passion fruit and other exotic fruits with delicate floral
notes of acacia. The palate is well balanced, with a rounded texture from lees ageing
supporting citrus flavours and a finish of fresh lemon zest. The clay-limestone soils
contribute a lively acidity that makes the wine particularly suited to seafood, Loire
and Touraine goat's cheeses, asparagus and lightly spiced Asian cuisine.
